The Three Lions Bring Back Bukayo Saka But Jude Bellingham, Foden & Jack Grealish Miss Out

Bukayo Saka in action

The Arsenal forward has netted a dozen goals in 44 caps for the national team.

England have called up the Arsenal winger for upcoming fixtures against Latvia and Wales, however no room for Bellingham, Foden or Jack Grealish.

Arsenal forward Bukayo Saka missed the previous World Cup qualifying successes against Andorra and Serbia due to a muscle problem.

The 24-year-old recently returned for Arsenal and found the net in their 2-0 win against the Greek side on Wednesday.

The England international comes in for club colleague Noni Madueke, who is sidelined till next month with a knee injury.

England face Wales in a friendly at Wembley on Thursday before a qualifying match in Latvia on 14 October.

If England win in Latvia, they will need a just two points from their last two matches versus Serbia and Albania in November to qualify for next summer's tournament in North America.

Leverkusen's Quansah comes in for Newcastle United’s Tino Livramento, who is out for up to eight weeks after sustaining a knee issue versus the Gunners recently.

Elliot Anderson and Djed Spence, who earned their maiden national team selections last month, keep their spots. Loftus-Cheek also remains in the squad, despite the recovery of Adam Wharton.

The attacker has featured in just one game for Tuchel since he became national team boss, due to injury concerns.

Bellingham missed the last England international camp as he recovered from shoulder surgery and has only made a single start for his club since returning from injury.

The Manchester City player was omitted from the coach’s previous selection after a dip in performance and has been unsuccessful in returning, even with a strong start to the campaign with City.

Grealish also misses out despite a revival in form with Everton. The 30-year-old has not played for England since October 2024.

Complete England Selection

'Attention turns to excluded players'

The manager’s latest England squad brings scrutiny on those the boss has omitted instead of the players he has selected.

Bellingham’s omission may cause surprise but Tuchel understandably feels there is no need to recall the Madrid midfielder.

Manchester City's Foden and loanee Grealish have both performed well in the early stages of the season.

Those who Tuchel utilised in England's qualifying victories against Serbia and Andorra merit the chance to continue.

There will be disappointment that the Gunners’ Madueke is not involved because of a fitness issue.

Anderson has looked right at home at international level.

Tuchel is a admirer of the attacker, especially, and also Foden.

One unexpected move, it comes in the exclusion of Palace’s Wharton.

Bellingham, of course, will be needed further down the line.
